Hi, this is Joshua Peterson with Peterson Electric. We are out here in Fort Collins, Colorado. It is a beautiful August day, today. We got called out by a HOA community, property manager, they said that there was a light pole not working, just a 3 foot. It looks like a torpedo. The light was not working the little general park for the kids. They wanted us to figure out why it was not working. We got in here and we found that the wires went to here, but they were cut short. They were cut off right to this nipple. I will show you how we traced it. We traced it back to this light right here by pulling this torpedo off and we could see all our wires down here below. Then at that point, we saw it traced to another light over here, just like this. Then we saw it go out there to another spot. I will show you want we did. Before you do that, we finally got this hooked up. We drilled and put a photo-eye down here, so we can turn this light on and off. We will cover this up and we will come back and see if this turns on. Then we traced our wires this way. It came to here. See if there is any power, not yet. We will know when that photo-eye kicks on, that light should kick on. We found right here aluminum in this separate conduit, which is a URD aluminum and we saw this copper come in here, which is a THWN and it goes in the conduit. We knew this can be possibly be back fed. Our concern was that if a light is turning on at night with a photo-eye and they fed it this way that we would have both these phases hitting each other. It is only single phase, 240 volt, but if it back fed and went towards that other meter we just came from, it would be kind of explosive there. We capped this off because we don’t care where it goes. We just care where these two lights are going to turn on from over there. Once that photo-eye is satisfied, we should be able to see our power turn on. What we did is identify our phase conductors with colors and we also made sure we taped off as separate boats. Put our wire caps on and tape the wire caps, so they don’t come loose and hit the side of this torpedo. At that point, we will follow up once the lights turn on. Thanks!
