This Joshua Peterson with Peterson Electric. Want to talk to you real quickly about aluminum conductivity. A lot of past electricians and homeowners Aluminum Diox on aluminum junctions, but as all as it is U.L. Listed, white book approved as well as your city and also your insurance. Back here about 30 years, someone put Diox on ranger and dryer aluminum feeders. Just to make it clear to you do not have to squirt Diox on the breaker or on the bus bar. It will eventually wreck it. Diox is really only designed for a lug feeder connection or for your patented parts for your outlets, switches and lights. Every time I have seen someone squirt Diox on the breaker or bus bar, it ruins the panel. Wanted to make sure as I talk to you again that as it dries up on that it will always be on the feeder. People say, “Shouldn’t I have copper?” Meters are different. The code still allows aluminum feeder to feed a panel or sub-panel. The branch circuits are all these little ones. Imagine a tree trunk and all the leaves coming out. These are exactly the branch circuits. Those have to be copper now days. If not, we can always pigtail splice that. We have a lot of blogs about that. Just so you know, we do not want to squirt Diox on any of our older breaker especially for the FPE or Zinscos. They are rated for aluminum conductor or copper or copper claud aluminum conductors. Thanks for joining us and have a great week!
