Joshua Peterson with Peterson Electric. We are here in Northern Colorado tonight. We had a customer, call us up and he knew quite a bit about electricity. It really helped over the phone. The main thing he was telling me over the phone and the main thing that really helped us over the phone was that he took some pictures and text them to us. That helped us know that the meter was outside with the breaker and the homes age was. He also knew that four wires were coming in here. He just took the screw off the dead front and he could see. Why that helped was because we were able to guide him through to see if he could reset it. Sometimes it is hard to get out there in the same day and get that done. From what he was telling us, this main 100 amp QO Square D and it would not reset, so what we did is come out and we found a way to get him a temporary splice. We are going to go research this at one of secret spots in Denver and see if we can find a reconditioned one, then we are going to try to come back and put it in. We don’t always aim to say you need a brand new service change. We try to find a way to fix and repair first because this house is really not old and the service is not that old. What I think was mainly beating up this breaker was over time, he is a welder and he does a lot of part time stuff on the side. I am starting to think that at a 100 amps on this home and welding. He has an electrical range, a dryer that is electric and probably a swamp cooler and he also has a hot water heater, so when all those are electric. Sometimes they kick on all at once and if you are welding out in the garage and those things are kicking on, someone is cooking or cleaning clothes. That “juice” going running through this breaker over time will wear it down and welders create a lot of arc. Keep in mind, if you are getting a hot tub or welder, you might want to look at upgrading your service to at least a 150. 200 amps is the best bet you can put on a smaller single family dwelling. We are here tonight. It is almost 11:00pm we got this wrapped up. We did it about in a hour and half. We will try to find a solution and let me know in the next 48 hours what we can do. Thanks for joining us. Have a great week!
