Joshua Peterson with Peterson Electric In Franktown, CO which is a little past Castle Rock. We are here helping some clients. Odd enough, I got a unique call on a gas pump. I actually got to wire a gas pump station in my apprenticeship as a journeyman. This was unique because their concern was (a) they didn’t know if they had power and (b) they didn’t know if it worked. We traced it out back to the panel in the garage, underground. It was installed correctly with the right conduit, which is a IMC conduit. If you come around here, I will show you what we were up against. What we found here was the wires, when they were put in were shorting out between the hot and neutral and the hot and ground. I think it is because when they went to put the wires in, they snagged in flex conduit, which is part of the gas pump. It bent itself around probalby broke the insulation around neutral, creating what we call “eddy circuits”, when you end up binding wire like that. Over time the insulation melted and it also had a tidbit of gas that came through this conduit. Now, you had the moisture of that gasoline. We just got to rewire this fitting all the way over to the disconnect box with its seal offs. We had to fix this conduit and screw it back in because it came off. Boom! Here is there disconnect. Basically, they have gas. They are good to go! It was a really cool job that I have never gotten to do a job like this. It is pretty exciting! We do those odd jobs. If you have a gas pump at your house, we will help you! Thanks! Have a good day!
